For dinner tonight I thought I would attempt to make my own BBQ sauce for the first time. I started with this recipe but made a few adaptations. I didn’t have rum so I substitute Blue Moon (made sense) and I used stir fry sauce because I was out of soy sauce.
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ancho chile powder
1/2 cup Blue Moon beer
1/4 cup stir fry sauce
1/4 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
ground black pepper to taste
Mix all your ingredients together…
Let it simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes…
It will transform into a thick sauce with a molasses like consistency.
Marinate your chicken breasts in the sauce for a few hours.
Served with some salad and green beans on a whole wheat bun.
There are some great commercial brands of BBQ sauce out there but there is nothing like making it from scratch. Hubby thinks I should bottle it and sell it. Would you buy Ally’s BBQ Saucy? 🙂
