Our Valentine’s celebration started on Saturday night with a reservation at Pete Millers in Evanston. Hubs was in the mood for steak and I was feeling like seafood.

Appetizer- Spinach and artichoke fondue with garlic toast.
Mike went with the filet trio and Maryland crab cake.
I ordered the special of the evening that was highly recommended, a 10 ounce lobster tail topped with crab meat. It did not disappoint. I had never actually had lobster tail before.
After dinner we came home because I had an early morning the next day. We cracked open a bottle of champagne that was given to us for Christmas by one of Mike’s students and watched Les Miserables on PBS. For some unknown reason they had cast one of the Jonas brothers in the production. This was upsetting but we watched anyway…
There was an little picture of a woman on the cork. Interesting.
Monday night Valentine’s Dinner– Sausage and Peppers as requested by Mike.
4 big peppers
1 large onion
3 Sausages- I used smoked Chardonnay and Apple Chicken sausage from Trader Joe’s
Tomato or Marinara sauce
Mike demanded meat.
Cut up the peppers, onion, saute in some EVOO. Add the meat and then the tomato sauce and spices- I used red pepper flakes, garlic salt, salt and pepper and a dash of Tabasco.
Topped with Parmesan cheese.
I broke half the bar into pieces with the handle of a chef knife.
These made hubby very happy.

I did a fast and furious workout on the treadmill and now we are settled in for the evening watching Casablanca on TCM. Hope you had a great Valentine’s Day!
