Chicago Style Sausage and Peppers (Go Bulls)

21 Apr

The Bulls are in the playoffs which means my husband will be spending the next several nights screaming at the television and scaring the holy hell out of the cat.  In an effort to be supportive, I made one of my husband’s favorite dishes, sausage and peppers.

I only had two peppers but luckily, they were mutant peppers roughly the size of my head.

First brown the sausages on each side.  I used Italian sausage from the Eastern European market.  They had a sweet smell as they browned up.  Yummy.

Remove the sausages from the pan and saute chopped onion, garlic, and peppers in the juices until the onions are translucent and the peppers brown a bit.

Add the sausages back to the pan along with the tomato sauce.  I also added a little red wine, because, why not?

I let all this simmer for about 25 minutes and cut up the sausage into pieces.  This smells amazing as only a mixture of garlic and onions can.

I brought Mike the hot sauce, literally.

Bulls won!! Woohoo!

Night!
